Everyone of you with a website out there, let's get this one thing straight first. If the links of your website are not indexed, they will not show up in the Search Engine Results Page (SERP).
The SITEMAPS are very much important and are used to index your posts in Google so that they will be seen in the search results. There are many ways to make Google Search more effective but it all starts with submitting your website sitemap to different search engines. - If your site is not a blog and you have access to the server on which your site is hosted (means if you can add files to the server on which your site is hosted), then go to step 2 and if your site is a blog or is hosted on a free domain ( like '.blogspot.com' or '.wordpress.com' ) then directly jump to step 3.
- Create a sitemap for your website. Read ' How to generate sitemap in easy steps ', and then proceed with step 3.
- Sign-In into you Google Webmasters Tools account ( If you already do not have one then create a new one from here and add your website or blog in it ).
- Click on the name of your website to open its details information as shown below
- Click on 'Sitemaps' Tab as shown below
- Click on 'Add/Test Sitemap' button on top right corner and a small box will open up
- In the text box type any one of the following and click on 'Test Sitemap'. If there are any errors it will show up there and if no errors then proceed to next step.
· atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500
· feeds/posts/default?orderby=updated&start-index=1&max-results=500
- If your's is a blogger(blogspot) blog, then you can just type in 'sitemap.xml'.
- If you did not get any errors in 'Test Sitemap' then again enter the same thing in text box and click on 'Submit Sitemap'.
