CES 2014: The Year Of Curved Technology


In the CES 2014 Event at Las Vegas, Samsung and LG showed large televisions and smartphones that will have curved display and would offer its users a 'more immersive experience'.


As seen so far, CES 2014 has three main themes viz. Wearable Computers, Curved Smartphones and Televisions and Home where every domestic appliance and device is connected to web. At the event, both LG and Samsung claimed that large TVs can now have curved screen to provide a better experience. LG also claimed that 'G Flex' - its new curved and flexible smartphone, will provide better viewing experience as more and more number of people have started watching TV shows and movies on their smartphones. Besides, the device will also offer improved sound quality for better experience.

LG also told that they will be using WebOS, previously used by HP for tablets and smartphones, as it is now working towards 'Making TV Simple'.

Panasonic claimed that its Smart TVs would provide a more personalized user experience as the TV would recognize every individual users' face, respond to every individual user and provide them personalized suggestions.

Bottom Line

Research says that even though there are over 160 million Smart TVs sold globally, majority of users find operating them complicated. On the other hand, customers round the globe seen to be much more curious about the curved smartphones and would love to had one as soon as they the market.
