Leaving aside all the goods and bads being talked about it, 'Facebook Home' has managed to get itself 500,000 downloads on the Google Play in just first week of its release which was on 16th April 2013.
The number is good but yet its too low as compared to 1 million downloads of Instagram in its first week of release. Looking at 1 billion users of Facebook worldwide, the number 500,000 is not too much of surprise.
Lets have a look at some features that Facebook Home (FBH) offers.
- It allows users to update their status
- It allows users to view newsfeeds
- It allows users to text their friends
No big deal with these features right!! You can do it without using FBH also.. But wait, FBH allows you to do all these right from your lock screen, without any interruptions. Now thats a big deal. Its said that FBH converts your smartphone into a Facebook Phone and it does its work well making the multi tasking much easier.
It is said that for product expansion, the FBH
launcher is negotiating with iPhone and Windows Phone to expand the
product. Now looking at the low number of its downloads the justification can be the fact that FBH is
available only on a handful of devices which include the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, HTC
One X, HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S3, and the Samsung Galaxy
S4.
Considering the low compatibility as the reason for less downloads will still not ignore the fact that the product has received a very poor response by the receiving one-star reviews from the app users at Google Play.
