Microsoft is backtracking, Paint remains on Windows 10

Finally, MS Paint will not go away. Two years ago, Microsoft had deprecated the software and considered no longer include it in Windows 10.

Windows has continued to evolve but the MS Paint software has hardly changed. It has been a while, however, that Microsoft has flirted with the idea of bowing to this one. After launching Paint 3D, the Redmond firm seems to have depreciated the classic version of Paint.

Given the popularity of this software, basic but useful, Microsoft has however clarified that it would still be available for free on the Windows Store, even if it was no longer preinstalled on Windows 10.

Today, we learn that Microsoft has even decided to keep Paint on Windows 10. Warnings from the Redmond firm regarding the depreciation of Paint disappeared on the May 2019 (1903) update and as spotted by The Verge website, a manager has even confirmed that the software will still be included in Windows 10.

"Yes, MSPaint will be included in 1903," said Brandon LeBlanc, Senior Program Manager at Microsoft. "It will remain included in Windows 10 for the moment. "

Microsoft wanted to replace Paint with Paint 3D?

For the moment, we do not know why Microsoft decided to do this back pedaling. But there is a good chance that the Redmond company has taken into account user feedback, because Paint is still very popular today (it is a good practice to crop a JPEG very quickly).

It is also possible that Microsoft decided to keep Paint on Windows 10 because it failed to popularize the Paint 3D software. As a reminder, this software was presented by the firm of Redmond, it includes all the features of the classic Paint, but also new features designed for visual creators in 3D. At the time, Microsoft wanted to create a community around this creative tool.
