Happiness comes from your genes?

You're cranky, you're feeling grumpy mood, and if it was not due to the cold of winter or the daily hassles? The key to happiness could lie in our genes according to Bulgarian and Hong Kong study.

Great difficulty was to answer the thorny question: what is the happiness? Professional or relationship status? The success? The health? No, this would be actually a genetic element that differs between populations. Here is why Mexicans are significantly happier than the Chinese.

Would the happiness gene?

Researchers at the University of Varna University of Management in Bulgaria and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University conducted a study on the level of happiness of people in different countries. The results of their study indicate that the level of happiness depends on genetics. If some people are "genetically" happier, it would be because they have a greater prevalence of "allele", a genetic variant that prevents the degradation of anandamide. The anandamide is a neurotransmitter in the body including the brain (and also in cocoa), which increases the sensory pleasures while decreasing pain.

Happiness Gene

Happiness do not depend on the socio-economic, security, etc. as explained by Professor Michael Minkov University of Varna in Bulgaria: "Feeling happy, relaxed and cheerful does not depend on the prosperity and security of a country". "In fact, the correlation between happiness and security seems even be reversed. The highest rates of murder and theft in the world are found in the northern Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa; yet it is precisely that found the happiest people and more relaxed".

What are the happiest people?

The results of the study, the country where people are the happiest are: Ghana, Nigeria, Mexico or Colombia. In Europe, the Swedes have a high prevalence of allele generally feel very happy, the French do not carry bad but Italians and Spaniards, posting a low prevalence of allele A, does not say very happy.

The least happy people reside in China, Thailand, Algeria, Iraq or Jordan.
