It is best to avoid any situation that may cause your device harddisk to crash. Following are some ways that can help you avoid any such situation so you don't run into problems later.

Ways to protect your Harddisk from crashing

#1 Avoid power supply problems

Disruption in the continuous power supply can cause problems. A power surge or spike can as easily crash the PC as a power cut would do. For this problem, you could consider buying an Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS). It is a reasonably good investment if your data is very crucial and important, which it is most of the times.

#2 Avoid overheating of your device

PCs or Laptops, they are always equipped with fans to keep them cool. For any reason if the fans fails to runs or the PC is too old (sometimes may require a bit of cleaning work), the system gets heated up and will generate an error called kernel error. So always make sure that the openings in CPU or Laptop (to throw out the hot air) are never blocked. You may like to read how you can increase the battery life of laptops.

A faulty or bad software installed is a common reason for computer crash. The problem can usually be overcome by just uninstalling the particular software. Prevention is better than cure, so always make sure that you only install software that are compatible with your system hardware. For example: Do not installed a software meant for 64bit system on a 32bit system. Read why you cannot use 100% of the hard disk space.

#4 Use an Anti-Virus software

The first sign of your system being virus infected is some unusual behavior or any kind of instability. So always install a good anti-virus on your system and keep it upgrading time to time to get the up-to-date updates and keep your PC safe from virus attacks. I recommend using 'Microsoft Security Essential' anti-virus. It works amazing for me. Even the Google Play Security was bypassed by the Hacking Team recently.

#5 Avoid using bad RAM

If the installed RAM is faulty, your PC may just never get started up or sometimes get started and again go off after some time. If this the is the case, just remove that particular RAM from your PC and replace it with a new one.
