Soon after the launch of its flagship device Elife E7, Gionee has launched the little brother of Elife E7 - Gionee Elife E7 Mini. The device was launched on the Christmas and surprisingly it was first launched in India for the price tag of Rs.18,999. The phone is now available for around Rs. 18,000 on ecommerce websites.
The main reason why this mini version is so much being talked about is its amazing feature of Rotating or movable Camera (also called swivel camera). Yes, it has only one camera which can be swivelled an used both as front and rear camera. And this has a flash too along with it to give you amazing results in low light.
Lets see in a bit more detail what Elife E7 Mini brings along with it.
Looks:
It has a unibody design like those of Elife E6 and Elife E7. Actully, it takes a bit from design of both and makes its own new look. The mini has its sides (right and left) flat like those in E6 while it top and bottom are bit curvy like E7.
Design and Form-factor:
The body is made out of plastic but do not look cheap. This helps it in being light-weight. The finish is smooth and the device fits pretty well in hands. Unlike its big brother E7, the back body do not get the fingerprint impressions - thanks to its form-factor.
Colors:
The device is available in two colors: Light Blue and Light Pink. More color options would have been really favorable for the device. We can hope to get those in future revisions.
Swivel Camera:
This is the signature feature of the device. The camera is 13MP with a flash light along with it. It can be used both as Front and Rear camera. The camera gets activated automatically as soon as it is moved to front. So you do not have to tap the camera icon in order to activate the camera. Just swivel it can get going.
Display:
It has a 4.7 inches display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. the results are really astonishing and one-handed operations are quite easy due to its big display screen.
Processor, Storage, RAM:
The device runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Beans) and has amazing 1.7GHz Octa-core MT6592 SoC MediaTek Processor. It has 8GB internal memory and RAM available is 1GB. So with this two the lagging of your phone is a thing of history.
Connectivity:
Unlike Elife E7, the E7 mini comes with Dual-SIM support which includes 3G support.
The device packs in a battery of 2100mAh. With our experience with similar phones the battery should have about 7-8 hours of talk-time and the regular 1 day on stand-by.
Bottom Line:
On paper, Elife E7 Mini is undoubtedly a great device with price tag of Rs.18,999. It is the first smartphone under Rs.20,000 to feature 13MP camera and octa-core processor. The only and major drawback of this phone can be the Non-expandable memory storage (No external SD-card slots available). Apart from this E7 Mini could easily compete its rivals like Micromax Turbo and the latest in market Samsung Galaxy Grand 2. We suspect that the major plus point for E7 mini, which makes it a pick compared to its rivals, will be its swivel camera. The reason is simple. As there is a single 13MP camera both for Front and Rear customers are sure that they want be having to sacrifice on the photo quality.
